Evaluation

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media     products?
2. How does your media product represent partricular social groups?

In my STAs I found that a lot of the time the model would be a white scruffy male on a rock magazine. He would usually be scruffy as it shows him being against the rules as this is what rock stars are commonly known to do. This represents the type of social group that my media product is aimed at, which are people that see these artists as role models.

In my target audience research by asking this social group I found what clothes they would want the model to be wearing 80% said that they would want the model to wear a leather jackets, sun glasses and common rock clothing. This shows that my target social group would be wearing these clothes and would be attracted to a magazine that dressed the way they did as it allows them to think that they are part of a group.

In the planning section for my double page spread I wanted to use an explicit quote as a pull quote. The aim of this was to get the attention of the audience, this fits into the social group as it shows that my model uses a rebellious which rock artists are commonly known to be. This would influence the social group of young people as it would seem as cool to be saying swear words.

In the construction stage I have made the main image on my front cover to cover most of the page as this would draw the audience in. As found out in my STAs there is not really missive’s of writing on the front covers so I haven’t used much in my own work. This allows the main focus to be on my model. In this social group of teenagers and young adults they are seen to look up to the artists so having the model being placed in the middle shows his power and influence on the reader and musical dominance.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
5. How did you attract/address your audience?
6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
