Music Magazine Front cover
On my front cover I will use what i found from my research for my target audience and from what i found when looking at different codes and conventions of music magazines. I will use a main image that will take up the whole page, this would be of a musician as from my target research we found that 58% of participants would prefer to have just one musician. The musican would wear a form of leather jacket and trousers which would show the model to fit in with the stereotypical rock musician of being hard and carefree.
I will have the masthead at the top in big bold writing to show the reader which magazine they're reading straight away, This easily tells a potential buyer which magazine genre ours is by our name we have used.
I propose to have the colours of black, white and red, this is because the black and white are contrasting colours making the the writing stand out, also the red sybolise death and blood which i think suits with our genre.
i want to use puffs and pugs, roughly around the headlines or masthead this is becuase i think this will allow them to stand out more and more likely for the reader to be draw in by them. I will also have the contact information, the date and the issue number on the front cover as although they aren't vital items they are essential for the reader and as the magazine compamy as this lures the reader in to find out more information and allows them to figure out if this magazine is relevant for them.
Music Magazine Contents page
in my contents page I want to keep the same house style meaning that the colour scheme which I have chosen will stay the same, making my magazine look proffesional. I want to have a main image aswell as some smaller images on the side, this allows us to use the main image to attract and lure the raeder into looking at the page, and the smaller images are there to show glimpses of what else is inside the magazine.
For the headline of the page i want it to say 'Contents page' this is because i think that our genre would prefer to get straight to the point as it is aimed for young adults who wouldnt spend much time on the contents page as they are more ignorent and would just want to try and find their interested page.
Music Magazine Double-page Spread
in my double page spread i would take up the left page for the main image of my chosen musician, this enables the right page to have the article on, this allows the reader to be attracted to look at the page by tghe musician as a big picture would intrigue the reader more than an article of writing. I will keep the same colour scheme as this would indicate that the two pages are linked, this is keeping to the same house style making the magazine seem more proffesional and consistant, this also allows me to keep my double-page spread well structured.
I would like to use pull quotes in my article, this is because it would draw the reader in to look at that specific question and if I have explicit quotes which are stereotypically found in rock musicians articles it would intrigue the reader even more.
Proposal document – Preliminary Task
Front cover:
We have decided to take a medium close-up shot due to our brief requiring this, and as a result of our target audience research and discussions we have decided to have our main image of a sports captain. This connotes an active and healthy school lifestyle that we feel is appropriate for a school magazine as this shows talent and skill.
On our magazine, our colour scheme will be blue, green, white and possibly yellow as these colours connote natural beauty and a relaxed enviroment.
The pug will be located near the model as this is where the audience looks the most therefore would attract their attention automatically, and it will also be a contrasting colour to the background as it would stand out.
